The future is finally here.
Carnegie Mellon is developing software teaching the basics of instructional contents and making them available for free. That's great. We have been using proprietary software for awhile. I would say the outcome is OK, so they have room to improve in terms of effectiveness – they packaged activities without really thinking through how students learn. That's why I have a high hope for CM project since they have the best minds in cognitive science.

Hi Cable Green,
I think there are more potential great educators out there who are not in the education profession because they have degrees in other fields; at 17-18 they didn't think they would be great teachers but now have discovered skills and passion for teaching.

This video will help them reconsider aiming for an education degree again and making their lives more meaningful.

I saw from your profile that you are also an education director. In case you are not aware of it yet, there is an app that can be useful for your students in reviewing their video lectures at their own pace, and also for teachers in their professional online development courses. It's a simple app called MySpeed from enounce. So hopefully, you will check it out if it is useful for your education network.

If you ask me, Obama should be more focused on the housing crisis. As far as the Obama real estate recovery plan goes, it will NOT work in many higher home value areas like San Diego, Los Angeles, New York City, etc.

I came across a San Diego real estate broker's blog post that is to be the only one I've seen that does not spout the 'industry line: "It's always a good time to buy real estate." This broker calls it like it is. No it's not PC, but it is amazingly informative and insightful. I had the opportunity to view the Horizon Report last year and am grateful for your post cuing me to this year's report. In some ways, though, these reports are more discouraging than encouraging. Technology is, and likely always will, changing extremely fast. But the two year college system seems culturally unable to match the pace of current changes. Additionally, the state of the economy and the budget cuts being seen across the board handcuffs us further. How can we be expect to adapt in order to train the new workforce when the very funds we need in order to evolve are being reduced drastically?
